Budgets got smaller, scripts got lamer, top tier actors buggered off and the special effects worsened to pathetic levels. Sadly, with each passing Anaconda sequel the law of diminishing returns struck in a bad way. It’s not high art by any stretch of the imagination, but it's entertaining fluff for what it is. It’s actually a decent enough popcorn-muncher with plenty of exciting set pieces and a nice body count. AnacondaĪrguably, the best (of a bad bunch?) ‘big snake eating people’ film, Anaconda stars well known actors such as Jennifer Lopez and John Voight and has the rare distinction of being a snake film that slithered its way onto the silver screen, turning a reasonable profit in the process, spawning numerous seuels, spin-offs and knock offs of dubious quality. Was Patrick too rash though? Were all of the snakes unfairly tarred with the same clover-laden brush? Here are some snake based creature features which might be worth having a look at on the day which we commemorate Ireland's Patron Saint. In an effort to save us from such risible attempts at entertainment, he chased the legless reptiles out of the country. No doubt he saw a vision of the future and the terrible movies that would be made about them. Legend has it that Saint Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland many moons ago.
